Ladies of the Knights

Concord Council 112's Ladies Program

Debbie Thibeault (front row, center), President

Welcome to the "Ladies of the Knights" of Concord Knights of Columbus Council #112.

Who are we? Well, simply put, we were born out of the idea that the Knights of Columbus, who perform so many corporal works of mercy, are only as successful as the women with whom they surround themselves: the Ladies!

These women - in support of the men who valiantly and unselfishly serve the citizens of Concord - are proudly there by their sides, sharing the same ideals and dreams.

As Emma Lazarus wrote, "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses . . . " This thought we share with you: if, as with Fr. Michael J. McGivney, founder of the Knights of Columbus, one man can make a difference, why not the "Ladies of the Knights?"

WHY WE ARE CALLED TO SERVE

There is the thought that we are pre-destined to live the lives that are written for us by God. With this in mind, we go where we are called, to serve the needs that are set before us.

As Sisters in Christ, we know that the common tie that binds us is deeply written in who we are, and that the desire to make that difference is not only a religious experience, but a feeling deep inside that being a part of something so simple and so good is, simply put, just too BIG to ignore.

The adventure is never ending, and we ask you to become a part of it - not only for the sake of the experience but to have fun doing it!

SERVING: The Carmelite Monastery, Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Sacred Heart Church, St. Peter's Church, St. John the Evangelist Church

If you would like to become a part of the Ladies of the Knights, please contact the Program President, Debbie Thibeault at kdkmc@comcast.net.

HARVEST CRAFT FAIR!

The Ladies of the Knights are organizing a Harvest Craft Fair to benefit their group and other charities.

Scheduled for Saturday, October 11th at St. Peter's Parish Center, the Fair will showcase some of New Hampshire's premier crafters, with two missions in mind: to highlight the talents of our state's artists, and to have fun doing it. All this, while raising funds to support areas of need within Concord and the capitol region

Ladies of the Knights should be lining up to contribute to the success of the Fair. Different committees have been formed by Chairwoman Jolene Camley to focus on the bake sale table, headed by Annette Marino. Donations are also being collected by Lilly St.Hilaire for the charity raffle. Jolene and Jennie Parisi are currently working on advertising and publicity, and more help is lining up. Right now, the Ladies are looking for someone to head up the organization of the kitchen and much more. Everything is coming together.

More information can be found here or by contacting Jolene at jlcc417@aol.com

Crafters can find an invitation letter here and a registration form here.

LADIES CONTRIBUTE TO GREATEST GENERATION DINNER

The Ladies of the Knights baked and packaged three varieties of cookies for Council 112's Second Annual Greatest Generation Dinner. The cookies were given as favors to the guests in attendance as they entered.

Over 100 Knights, families and guests participated in the dinner on Monday, June 23rd - which doubled in size from the previous year's gathering.

Along with the cookies, Ladies greeted guests and shared conversation throughout the evening with Knights they knew and those whom they were meeting for the first time.

Ladies in attendance were Debbie Thibeault, Jolene Camley, Lisa Breton, Jennie Parisi, Pat Preisendorfer, Irene Weber and Lilly St.Hilaire.

LADIES JOIN IN REMEMBERING HARRY BROWN

On Saturday, June 14th, the Ladies organized the Mercy Meal that was offered after the Harry W. Brown Memorial Mass at St. Peter's Church.

The program, organized by Jolene Camley, was well-attended by volunteers who knew, loved and supported SK Brown over the years.

Council Chancellor Glenn Camley, PGK, FDD, FN and District Master Ed Kennedy, PSD were among the 50 people attending the Mass, held in honor of the late SK Harry Brown, PGK, FDD, PFN.

Many thanks to Jolene, Debbie Thibeault, Lilly St.Hilaire, Doreen Mussamatxa, Jennie Parisi and Annette Marino who made the day's events go off without a hitch. Special thanks to Sandy McCann, wife of NH K of C State Secretary Ed McCann, who assisted.

BASKET RAFFLES HELP TO RAISE FUNDS

The Ladies have been creating raffle baskets over the last year for Council 112.

Although baskets have raised funds for different areas of need over the last year, proceeds from a majority of the raffles have gone to funding a $500.00 College Scholarship that the Council has awarded to a deserving high school graduate.

The "Patriotic" and "Garden" themed raffle baskets, below, were  created by Jolene Camley for the Bi-Annual 4th Degree District Meeting held at Saint Peter's Parish Center on April 20th.

Funds from the raffle of the two baskets are going towards the creation of a monument at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.

LADIES REMEMBER US TROOPS AT CHRISTMAS

In 2007, the Ladies created Christmas cards and care packages for servicemen and women in Iraq.

This program, with the assistance of GK Keith Thibeault, is sure to be a repeat venture for the Ladies in 2008 and beyond.
