Grand Knight's Message

April 2008

As my time gets closer to stepping down as your Grand Knight, I sit down with mixed emotions. You have made it a wonderful experience for me, and a joy to say that I was given the opportunity to lead the best council in the state. I know that whoever is elected to this position will get the same support that you have given me over the past two years. All of the gentlemen who said that they are interested in officer positions will do an outstanding job as your council leaders. As I have stated in my previous message, it is not like I am leaving the council. I will still come to all monthly meetings and will be very much involved with this outstanding group of officers.

Both Debbie and I have some very important events in our lives: our first grandchild was born on April 8th at 2:14 AM. His name is Jeremy Joseph Thibeault and he weighed in at 9 lbs. 1 oz., 19.5" in length. Both mother, father and the baby are all doing great up on the Canadian border. Our second big event is our daughter Melissa renewing her wedding vows to her husband, Matt Roby - who will be returning from his second tour to Iraq. After their wedding, they will make their home in California. Matt is trying to get an assignment on the east coast. Our last big event will be our youngest son, Christopher graduating from high school.

This is going to be a busy month for the council in April, starting with two members becoming Sir Knights: Tony Marino and Ben Bellerose. Gentlemen, thank you for taking this honor and I welcome you to the Monsignor Buckley Assembly 627. On April 20th at St. Peter's Parish Center, the council will host the 4th Degree Bi-Annual District Meeting. It is an honor to host this event. Red will be the chef and if you can give him any help please feel free to lend your support. On April 26th at 8:30 PM, we will meet at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church parking lot for a safety briefing prior to going out for our first Clean-Up Project of Mountain Road this year. If that is not enough, we then go to the council home to host the NH K of C State Spring Cribbage Tournament at 12:00 PM. The Ladies Program will be making sandwiches and will have soda and chips on hand for selling. Brothers, if any of you have cribbage boards or cards please bring them. Brother Jim Audet brought up a really great idea about doing a Spring clean up at the council home, i.e. painting the exterior of the building, raking and cleaning the interior, etc. This is a project that we were planning before Ol' Man Winter came in for a very long time. As you can see, there is a lot to accomplish before we can rest for a while.

This month's social dinner is dedicated to the lovely ladies of our council and will be held on April 28th at the council home. Red will be cooking roast pork, baked potato and mixed vegetables. For the month of May, we will be hosting a benefit for the CareNet organization. More info to follow. Also, we will hold our elections for next year's officers.

Please come out on Memorial Day to march in Concord's parade. Show your support for the troops that have given us the freedoms that we enjoy each and every day. Also, leave your calendars open for our June social dinner, where we will be honoring our Greatest Generation. These gentlemen sacrificed much for us so let us give them the respect that they deserve by coming out and honoring them. All who attended last year had a wonderful time.

My wife, Debbie has lined up a bus to go to Foxwoods Resort Casino on August 16th. We will be leaving Concord Trailways bus terminal at 6:00 AM and arriving at Mashantucket, Connecticut at 9:30. We then depart Foxwoods at 6:30 PM and arrive home at 9:30. The cost is $35.00 per person. On August 24th, we will be holding our Family Day Picnic at Elm Brook State Park.
